Katrin X, a dance, puppet and smartphone performance, explores the possibilities of new technologies and traditional theater as puppets and mask.
Berthold Brecht’s play "Mother Courage and her children" is the origin of our story.
This adaptation gives focus to the three children:
Eilif the brave, Swiss Cheese the honest and Katrin the kind.
In Brecht's play, the three kids die in consequences of these three attributes. Only the mother, the merchant, will survive.
In our adaptation we will explore more in particular: Katrin, the mute daughter. Katrin lives through war, and is traumatized by it, that is why she cannot speak.
This character will “escape” from Brecht’s play, because what she lives in War is suffocating her. Like in Pirandello’s play, the character will run away from the writer to save her brothers and try to change History.
Katrin cannot tell us the story with words, but with images, dance, and music.
She will move from one historic period to another in search of answers through time; in the past, in the present and in the future.
Katrin will try to save humanity showing us how we can change perspectives and mind. Katrin X, a dance, puppet and smartphone performance, explores the possibilities of new technologies and traditional theater as puppets and mask.
